The Compound is an undeveloped part of Palm Bay, Florida. On March 28, 2026, someone passing through saw vultures circling and went to look. In the grass was a suitcase with human remains inside.
Palm Bay police searched the area and found more remains. Inside one of the suitcases was a piece of Amazon delivery packaging with a name on it: Lucas S. Jones.
The remains were those of Colie Lee Daniel, 28. A week earlier, on March 21, his parents had reported him missing to police in Indialantic.
The investigation
Jones was 19 and lived with his family in a beachside house on Watson Drive in Indialantic. According to the State Attorney’s office, his girlfriend at first said she knew nothing about Daniel. Then she told detectives that Jones had beaten Daniel to death with a baseball bat, dismembered him and forced her to help take the remains to the Compound.
